Practitioner Membership with Mediation Institute

Practitioner Membership includes:

  • Independent Complaint Handling - FDRPs and FGCs. We will be applying for approval under the Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2025.
  • Free for Members Professional Development
  • Listing on the Directory of Practitioner Members
It is a 12 month membership for $190.
Eligibility Requirements

You must meet the eligibility requirements to be accepted as a professional member.

  • Accredited Mediators - If you are nationally accredited Mediator NMAS / AMDRAS with another accreditation provider and do not want to transfer your Recognised Accreditation Body (RAP). You can join Mi as a Practitioner Member.
  • Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners - For those making their first application to the Attorney Generals Department and currently registered FDRPs
  • Family Group Conference Facilitators - You need evidence of having completed a recognised certificate course in Family Group Conferencing.

  • Disqualification from any type of professional practice e.g. as a lawyer or counsellor or as a mediator
  • Criminal Convictions
  • Cancellation or suspension of NMAS / AMDRAS or FDR registration
  • An impairment, e.g. health or mental impairment, that could influence your capacity to discharge your obligations in a competent, honest and professional manner

By submitting this application for Practitioner Membership, you authorise Mediation Institute to seek information from any party noted on your application and/or supporting documents or an authorised representative of the AMDRAS Board and/or the Attorney General's Practitioner Registration Department, if relevant.


Mediation Institute is required to notify the Attorney Generals Practitioner Registration Department if a substantiated complaint is made against you that requires disciplinary action and/or to notify them of other changes that may affect your registration as a FDR Practitioner.

  • Your membership becomes active upon payment.
