Putting Safety First: FCFCOA of Australia's Response to FV

Family Law Pathways Network - Greater Melbourne

Separation is one of the most dangerous periods for victim-survivors of family violence, with risks often intensifying when families turn to the court. In the FCFCOA, family violence is a key concern, with allegations present in 83% of parenting matters.

This webinar outlines major reforms introduced by the FCFCOA to improve safety and outcomes for children and families, including:
• Early Risk Screening and Assessment to identify safety concerns
and prevent harm.
• Integrated Referrals to legal and specialist support services.
• Enhanced Information Sharing between courts and agencies.
• Judicial and Workforce Training to improve family violence
responses.
• Collaboration and Innovation through partnerships with the
legal and community sectors.

This session will also explore how these reforms align with recent amendments to the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth), which strengthen protections for children, victim-survivors and prevent misuse of the system.
