AMDRAS - Accredited Mediator Application

Application for a new Accredited Mediator AMDRAS - Please ensure you are logged in before completing this form.

This form is if you completed the Certificate of Training (COT) and Certificate of Assessment (COA) under AMDRAS or the NMAS assessment under the teach out pathway.

What you need to know:

  • AMDRAS Accredited Mediator membership is for 2 years (24 months) and includes Practitioner Membership 
  • You are covered for other forms of practitioner membership you are eligible for (FDR Practitioner or FGC Facilitator) at no extra cost (normally $190 per year)
  • The current fee for 2 years AMDRAS Accreditation and Membership is $480 inclusive of GST.

Transfer or Recognition of Accreditation

If you are currently an Accredited Mediator with another accreditation provider and would like to be a member of Mediation Institute, you can either:

  • Transfer to Mediation Institute - Use this link for the form to transfer of your accreditation to Mediation Institute. 
  • Join as a Practitioner Membership - Use this form to apply for Practitioner Membership and keep your national accreditation with your current Recognised Accreditation Provider (RAP)

Professional Indemnity Insurance or statutory immunity is a requirement for mediation practitioners. If you do not have insurance you can apply for a non-practicing certificate (this does not permit you to practice as a mediator under AMDRAS)

The AMDRAS require evidence of good character. This can be statements from two (2) people who have known you for three (3) years or more who believe you are of good character.

Please do not provide good character references from close family members or relationship partners. 

Information required:

  • How long they have know you
  • How they know about your work
  • Their views of the Applicants competence as a mediator
  • Any additional comments

If you have passed good character requirements in a different profession, we can consider alternative evidence.

By submitting this application for Mediator Accreditation Practitioner Membership, you authorise Mediation Institute to seek information from any party noted on your application and/or supporting documents or an authorised representative of the AMDRAS Board or another Recognised Accreditation Provider under AMDRAS.


By authorising Mediation Institute (Mi) to act as your independent complaint handling service you authorise Mi to notify the Attorney-Generals Practitioner Registration Department if a substantiated complaint is made against you that requires disciplinary action and/or to notify them of other changes that may affect your registration as a FDR Practitioner. That includes your membership lapses or is cancelled so that you no longer have access to our complaint handling service.


Our team will review your application and contact you if they require any additional information. Once your application is complete an invoice will be issued and upon payment your membership will be finalised.

The current fee for Mediator Accreditation + Practitioner Membership for two years is $480 including a fee of $100 paid to the AMDRAS Board for your listing on the National Register.
